Manila's evening got materially better between 2024 and 2026 and almost nobody has updated their plans. Fort Santiago now closes at 10pm, not 6pm. The Pasig River Esplanade bazaar runs 3pm to midnight. The Okada fountain is free every 30 minutes from 7pm. Night walking tours of Intramuros at $22 are the fastest-growing product in the city. And Poblacion runs until 4am. A good Manila night: golden hour on the walls, the Esplanade at dusk, then Makati.
What to do in Manila after dark
Fort Santiago, lit, until 10pm
The single most useful recent change in Manila sightseeing. Brick lit from below, cool air, almost nobody there, and the ramparts over the mouth of the Pasig. Guides written before 2024 all say it shuts at 6pm.
The Esplanade bazaar and Jones Bridge
The restored neoclassical lamps on Jones Bridge come on at dusk and the riverwalk becomes the most pleasant public space in central Manila. Kiosk food ₱50–250. This is the part of the city that did not exist three years ago.
A Night in Old Manila walking tour
The storytelling niche in Intramuros moved after dark. Rated 4.9★ from over a thousand reviews on Klook, and it is the fastest-growing tour product in the district precisely because the late fort hours made it possible.
The Okada fountain show
WET-designed, the same company as the Bellagio fountains, running to 10pm on weeknights and midnight Friday to Sunday. Free, and better than it has any right to be. Pair it with the MOA bayside boardwalk.
Poblacion
A Michelin star, Asia's 50 Best Bars #98, a listening bar and 3am tacos inside 500 metres. Bars peak 10pm to midnight and clubs do not fill until after 12:30am — arriving at 8pm to an empty room is normal, not a bad sign.
The Bayleaf sky deck, Intramuros
The best rooftop view of the walled city, and you do not need to be staying there. Go at 17:30 for the light and stay as the fort's floodlights come on below you.

Is Manila safe at night?
It depends entirely on where. BGC and Makati CBD are comfortable to walk at any hour. Intramuros is fine inside the walls and on the lit spine — the incidents cluster at the edges. Poblacion is crowded-safe with a phone-snatching problem on dark side streets after 2am. Malate's inner blocks and Divisoria are not places to walk after dark.
What time do things close in Manila?
Fort Santiago 10pm, the Esplanade bazaar midnight, malls 10pm, bars around 2am and clubs 2–4am. Tapsilog joints and convenience stores run 24 hours. Restaurants generally stop seating around 10pm outside the nightlife districts.
Is the Okada fountain show free?
Yes, completely free, running every 30 minutes from 7pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday and 7pm to midnight Friday to Sunday. It was designed by WET, the company behind the Bellagio fountains, and it is one of the best free things in Metro Manila.
